Pasco 16-year-old cyclist hit by Sheriff’s cruiser
Local law enforcement has confirmed that a 16-year-old girl from Hudson Florida was struck by a Pasco County Sheriff Deputy’s cruiser while crossing a road in a marked crosswalk on Oct. 15.
The Pasco County Sheriff’s Office told WTSP that the deputy “driving their agency vehicle was turning onto Little Rd. from Fivay Rd., when they struck a female juvenile riding a bicycle.” The girl was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol investigated the crash and told WTSP that the teen was riding northbound on the sidewalk and when she entered the crosswalk, the deputy, who was turning right hit her.
A photo posted on the Pasco Chat Facebook group shows the bicycle under the cruiser feet from the crosswalk at the intersection of Little and Fivay roads. A woman who said she is the girl’s mother posted the photo asking for witnesses and said that her daughter is just “bruised up.”
