Puckipuppy Doberman Lightweight eBike
Weighing in at a slender 44 pounds, the Puckipuppy Doberman is the company’s lightest bike to date.
Puckipuppy, the company that names all of its bike models after dogs, is branching out from its fat-tire roots with the introduction of the Doberman, a lightweight commuter eBike offered at less than $1,000.
At the heart of the Doberman is an ultra-light aluminum alloy frame. With the exception of the larger downtube, which houses the battery, the Doberman could easily be mistaken for an analog bike.
The rear hub motor produces 600w at peak power and can propel the bike up to 20 mph in throttle mode or 25 mph with pedal assistance from the rider. A 36v removable battery promises 40-50 miles of range. An LCD display is mounted above the stem and shows relevant ride data such as speed, mileage pedal assist level and battery charge.
A front headlight and rear taillight are standard features, but the Doberman does not come with fenders or a rear rack, which might turn off some commuters. The frame does include two mounting points for water bottles.
The drivetrain consists of a Shimano 7-speed rear derailleur with a single speed chainring. Hydraulic disc brakes provide the bike’s stopping power. The Doberman rolls on 28″ wheels wrapped in 1.75″ tires.
The Puckipuppy Doberman has a weight limit of 350 pounds and is available in green yellow, blue and black color schemes. It’s expected to ship in late November and is available for pre-order at puckipuppy.com for $950.
