Mokwheel Onyx mid-drive mountain bike
The Mokwheel Onyx is a mid-drive, full suspension fat tire eBike that is ready to take on off-road adventures.
The Onyx’s 750-watt mid-drive motor with peak output of 1300W promises to deliver natural, balanced thrust with incredibly quick response times thanks to the both cadence and torque sensors and a top speed of 28 miles per hour.
A removable 48V 20Ah Samsung battery gives the Onyx a max range of up to 80 miles. A color LCD HD display is integrated into the bike stem and provides clear data from all viewing angles. A thumb throttle activates electric only mode which can be used in conjunction with one of the five pedal assist modes.
In addition to the mid-drive motor, what really sets the Mokwheel Onyx apart from other eBikes is its traditional bike parts. Tektro four-piston disc brakes with 203mm rotors are a clear upgrade from other Mokwheel bikes. The Shimano 10-speed Cues rear derailleur offers quiet, swift shifting.
In what’s definitely a first for the brand, Mokwheel has specced the onyx with a dropper seat post. The suspension is also beefier than other models with a DNM 50mm rear shock absorber and a 135mm travel dual-crown front fork.
The Onyx rolls on 4-inch fat bike tires and comes with a front headlight. Fenders are listed as a free accessory. The bike weighs 89 pounds and has a weight limit of 400 pounds.
Mokwheel pioneered the idea of the power-station eBike, which when paired with an optional inverter, can charge small electronic devices. It can also be charged via solar power.
The Mokwheel Onyx is available in a standard or step-thru frame and retails for $3,288. The standard frame is available in Black/Blue, Jungle Camo, or Brown/Gray color schemes, while the step thru version comes in Panda, Desert Camo or Mint Green colors at mokwheel.com.
