Fiido Air lightweight carbon fiber eBike
The Fiido Air, which weighs just 30.3 pounds, is billed as one of the lightest eBikes in the world.
The weight savings comes from the Air’s extensive use of carbon fiber components, including the frame, stem, handlebar and seat post.
The Air’s story is more than just its weight. The bike is also outfitted with a good deal of tech. A fingerprint sensor is built into the top of the frame and is used to unlock the bike and switch pedal assist mode. The sensor also serves as a battery indictor light, which changes colors based on the battery charge level. An app and a smart watch are also available to track ride metrics.
The Air is powered by a 250-watt rear-hub motor, which is paired to a 208wh battery. Out of the box, the Air is capable of a top speed of 15.5 mph and a range of up to 62 miles.
A Gates Carbon Belt Drive, with a 60-tooth chain ring and 22-tooth rear cog. replaces the typical chain and derailleur drivetrain, while hydraulic disc brakes provide the stopping power. The Air rolls on 700cx40c Kenda gravel tires and has a weight limit of 264 pounds.
The headlight and taillight are integrated into the bike’s frame and a hex wrench, to adjust the seat height, is mounted under the frame. Fenders and an extended range external battery are optional extras.
The Fiido Air is available in one color and Medium, Large and Extra Large sizes. It can accommodate riders from 5’4″ to 6’9″ tall and is IP54-rated for water resistance. It retails for $1,799 at fiido.com
