Mokwheel Tarmac ST announced
The Mokwheel Tarmac ST (the step-thru version of the Tarmac) is jam-packed with features designed specifically for the urban rider.
A 750w motor with peak power of 920 watts, propels the Tarmac ST up to 28 mph, while a removable, UL-certified 48v battery gives up to 60 miles of range.
The Tarmac is equipped with a removable LCD display, which means the electric motor is inoperable when the display is removed. The display shows speed, battery charge, odometer, and which pedal assist level is active. The Tarmac has five pedal assist levels and a twist throttle for pure electric riding. It is also outfitted with both torque and cadence sensors.
For safety and visibility, a headlight is built into the bike’s head tube. Brake and tail lights are built into the rear chain stays as well as the redesigned integrated rear rack. Turn signal lights are also incorporated into the rear stays.
The step-thru frame is an ideal choice for both small and tall riders, in fact Mokwheel lists the bike as suitable for people between 5’6″ and 6’8″ tall. At the front of the frame, a suspension for offers 80mm of travel. The bike has a weight limit of 300 pounds. A standard frame version of the Tarmac is also available.
Instead of the typical 7-speed drivetrain, Mokwheel went with a 1×8 Shimano system. Hydraulic disc brakes are bolted to the 27.3-inch wheels, which are wrapped in 2.4″ tires.
The Mokwheel Tarmas ST weighs in at 57 pounds and is available in Hazelnut Yellow, Smoke Grey and Crimson Red color schemes. It currently retails for $1,899.99 at Mokwheel.com.
