The RadRunner 3 Plus eBike is the latest offering in Rad Power Bikes’ Utility lineup. Enhancements over the prior model include hydraulic disc brakes, a redesigned low-step frame and upgraded electronics.

The latest RadRunner is equipped with five pedal-assist settings, plus a zero assist option. The range is stated at 25 to more than 45 miles on a charge and a top speed of 20 mph.

The RadRunner 3 Plus is purpose-built to haul goods as well as another passenger. The $139 Passenger Package adds a back passenger seat, retractable footpegs, and a protective wheel skirt. The passenger weight is limited to 120 pounds of the total 350 pound capacity.

As with many similar eBikes, a 750-watt motor propels the bike, and Tektro hydraulic brakes provide stopping power. A Shimano 7-speed rear derailleur rounds out the drivetrain.

When it comes to electronics, the RadRunner has some unique features, including a USB port to charge accessories such as a phone. It also comes up with an upgraded headlight as well as a rear light that also serves as a brake light.

Weighing in at 75.5 pounds, the RadRunner 3 Plus rolls on 20×3.3″ Kenda Tires. Up front an RST Spring Fork with 60 mm travel helps calm the bumps. The bike currently retails for $1,699 with free shipping at radpowerbikes.com.

Rad Power Bikes is the nation’s largest eBike maker. The company was founded by Mike Radenbaugh, who as a teenager was looking for a better way to pedal his bike the 15 miles to and from school. He tinkered with spare parts and started converting standard bikes to ebikes before launching a crowdsourcing campaign to build the first Rad Rover. It was Radenbaugh’s mother who suggested naming the company Rad Power Bikes.
